Sick leave entitlement for employees

As of 24th July 2021 all employees sick leave entitlements will increase from the current 5 days per year to 10 days per year. The entitlement to 10 days is to take effect as of each employees next entitlement date (being the date 6 months after their employment started and annually on this date thereafter). In cases where an employee has recently received their sick leave entitlement before the 24th July 2021, they will only be entitled to 5 days and will not see the increase until their next entitlement in 12 month’s time.

If you run a payroll software you will need to ensure you increased the entitlement to 10 days on the 24th July 2021 to ensure the software correctly calculates sick leave entitlements at each employees next entitlement date.
